An Appeal for Ramakrishna Math, Puducherry
Swami Vivekananda, during his wandering days, visited Puducherry and laid the foundation for the Ramakrishna Movement in this region. The spiritual legacy left by Swami Vivekananda, supported by the devotees and followers of Sri Ramakrishna, continued to flourish in Puducherry, leading to the establishment of a Sub-centre of the Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, was established in Puducherry on 18 March 2022.
The new sub-center in Puducherry is currently functioning in a small house. Presently, the center conducts various spiritual and service activities. In 2023, land measuring 18,609 sq. ft. was purchased in Karuvadikuppam for the construction of the new Math buildings. The foundation stone for this was laid by Most Revered Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj on 16 February 2023. The proposed new Math at Puducherry will include a Temple Block, a Service Activities Block, and Monks' Quarters.
The construction work is now in full swing, and the new Centre is scheduled to be inaugurated on Sunday, 4 October 2026 by Most Revered Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math.
The Service Activities Block will be inaugurated by Sri N. Rangaswamy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Puducherry.
